Post-Olympics: Will China Continue to Green?
With less than a month to go, a lot of international press have focused on Beijing’s air quality, food cleanliness, visa policies, and general foreign friendly clean up. Many in the government have doubled their efforts to make sure the Olypmics goes off without a hitch, and that when foreigners come to CHina to watch the great games they leave with a good impression that.
There are reports that to do this, Beijing will draw resources from other provinces, thousands of workers are being laid off through the shutdown of factories, and there are many Beijing residents who generally find the whole process to be over the top.
As someone who has lived in China for 7 years, the Olympics has provide interesting insights into China’s mindset, and the article in Environmental Science and TEchnolgoy article Will the Dragon Stay Green? China After the Beijing Olympics asks some very important questions about the process that has no doubt been catalyzed by the Olympics.
It is an article I suggest any China investor, resident, or analyst read.
