Green Events Guide

September 12th, 2008

AsiaisGreen has put a really interesting guide for event managers on their website, and I have already passed onto 20 of my friends in Shanghai and HK who are event planners.

The Green Events Guide (PDF download here) was put together for event planners because:

All events, big or small, use resources and have negative impacts on the environment. The planning, preparation and conducting of events tend to consume water, energy and materials, and produce waste and gas emissions. We understand that event organizers and venue managers would like to reduce their impacts on the environment and go green, but they are not sure how to start.

Categories covered include:

  • Venue and Transport
  • Food and Catering
  • Energy and Water
  • Materials and Waste

For those of you who arrange corporate events of any size, I suggest you download and use what you can of the guide.  Global Sources sets a high bar as they have begun a process of donating goods left behind as a way to reduce their waste, but even for us small time event planners, just finding a place with convenient metro access can be an easy thing to put into place right away.
