Mark Levine from Lawrence Berkeley made another quick appearance following Marc Porat to show some preliminary data on China energy consumption. Cannot cite the stats at this point, but
Energy Demand in China
- Industry sector growth will from from 11.1% in the 2000 – 2005 to less than 5% energy growth over the next 20 years
- buildings from 8.5% to less than one
Need to reduce energy intensity quickly to avoid a crisis.
Doing this will be one of China’s biggest challendges
