20 Ways to 20% in China

One of the things I am finding, no matter where I am, is that people concerned about global warming, air pollution, or other environmental issues have a hard time finding information about how they can help.  In many ways, they are still looking to understand and learn about their relationship to the issues.

It is a difficult program that requires a long term plan on educating the masses, but every once in a while a new site or tool is introduced, and 20 Ways to 20% is one of those.

Now a consortium of corporations, media, NGOs, and international agencies was recently the highlight of the Xinhua article Spring Festival revelers urged to embrace green lifestyle. 20 Ways to 20%, was started by WWF in January 2007 to:

In an effort to extensively engage the public to save energy and help China achieve its 20% national energy efficiency target, on the basis of 20 ways to 20% and 26 degree campaign, WWF, together with Global Village of Beijing, Friends of Nature, Energy Foundation, and Greenpeace have jointly set up an NGO consortium including more than 50 influential NGOs in China. In the coming years, this consortium will carry out a series of national public awareness and engagement programs. These will include programs such as the 26 Degree Air Conditioner project, promoting energy efficiency labeling, green lighting options, and green office strategies.

  • 26oC Air Conditioner Temperature Measure
  • No Cars Day Public Transportation Survey
  • Green Package And Reduce The Use Of Plastic Bags
  • Winter Air Conditioner Temperature Measure
  • Promotion Of Energy Efficiency Label

The website is, are in both English and Chinese, and there are some great resources on there for average citizens to tap into
