China’s Newest Answer to Water Shortages

Perhaps the thing that amazes me the most about China’s recent announcement that China would send air force freighters to make rain in drought stricken areas, is simply that this is actually what we have come to when our climate changes:

Xu Yonghe, Hubei Weather Modification Office’s chief engineer, was equipping the An-26 freighter with artificial rain enhancement facilities at Yangluo Airport in Wuhan City when the reporter spoke to him. The freighter arrived from south China’s Guangzhou City on Tuesday evening.

Xu said the facilities included cloud-seeding equipments and a GPS system. The plan is to create a shower between Feb. 12 and 14,and another between Feb. 15 and 17. “They could increase rainfall by 10 to 20 percent.”

And that there are departments at China’s provincial level called Weather Modification Offices is spine tingling.

Nothing to see here folks.  Move along.

i bet they are already working out how to stop glaciers melting too …

can we invest in the Weather Modification Offices? I think they might develop something they can export and profit off…
