China to Susidize 100 Million CFLs

AFP report that China ramps up subsidies for energy-efficient light bulbs is welcome news for a number of reasons:
1) The previous program proved successful
2) The previous program was successful enough to expand on
3) Subsidizing the 150 million bulbs will signiifcantely reduce the power draw from coal plants
4) There is a chandelier impact as consumers gain awareness through their actions
All in all, it is a win win program from the government, and one of the few programs that I have seen that reach on such a wide scale.
Definitely a program that gets beyond the solar panels and hybrids.
