Protecting nature for the next generation was something I learned early through my yearly trips Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park. Hiking up to Bear lake, or going through the canyons, there were few activities I have enjoyed more, and so it is with great happiness that I was recently introduced to the people at China Rivers Project
China Rivers Project organizes education-oriented river trips in China, providing opportunities for decision makers, scientists, and local community members and others to experience China’s river heritage.
and their mission is a big one:
protect China’s river heritage for people and wildlife and to foster river based recreation in China.

Located within the Taicang rd art scene is potentially china’s first private co-op. Hosting the products of nine socially conscious entrepreneurs, Nest has done an excellent job of providing a space for these designers by staying true to 5 tenat that they call their manifesto:
Nest where the sum is greater than its parts: Nest is a design collective created to provide a fulfilling shopping experience through products with substance
Nest is home and handmade: Nest represents quality, contemporary, handmade products for the home
Nest is a place that fosters growth and development: Nest promotes a better and more humane world through responsible manufacturing
Nest is a place to nurture: Nest supports the work of skilled artisans of China and in Asia
Nest is an incubator: Nest provides a rich, unique experience for everyone
Jeff Delkin and Rachel are unlike many expat couples you will meet in Shanghai, and besides providing a showcase for social conscious products, they are also bringing together the communittee on a regular basis to discuss a range of topics (see notes from the July 30 event here).
